Cumberland Valley Strike

Cumberland Valley school teachers say they will go on strike Thursday and the district says all classes will be canceled.
Teachers and the Cumberland Valley district haven't been able to close a $1 million gap between pay raises the teachers are seeking and the amount the board is offering.
School Board President John Jordan says the district offered a four-year contract with average annual raises of 4 1/2 percent. That's up from just over 4 percent in its previous offer.
But teachers union president Jay Foerster says he called the strike Monday night because the school board's offer called for reducing money marked for raises by $600,000. State officials will determine how long the strike can last.
